Twice a week a interdisciplinary meeting, the tumour conference, between specialists from all fields - radiologists, pathologists, surgeons, medical oncologists and radio therapists - is held. The radiologists elaborate on the relevant x-ray findings, the pathologists explain the tissue samples and the surgeons, medical oncologists and radiooncologists discuss together the therapeutic strategy which often entails a surgical, radiotherapeutic and chemotherapeutic intervention.
General practitioners and the doctors treating can also participate at the tumour board and bring in other aspects, especially concerning the patient's family situation and social environment. The symptoms of every patient are discussed and the therapeutic plan is specified in the team.
Registrations can be filled by the chief physician or by the senior physician of the respective medical department.
