  • ECG: This examination measures the electrical activity of the heart. Electrodes are positioned on the skin for this purpose. It is a simple diagnostic tool in acute medicine and in follow-up checks.
  • Long-term EC G: This is used to detect cardiac arrhythmia in patients with palpitations, palpitations, fainting spells, dizziness, syncope or who have suffered a stroke (cerebral insult), for example. The cardiac currents are recorded over 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours or 7 days. Depending on the arrhythmia, no drug or interventional therapy may be necessary; these are among the harmless variants. In other cases, further investigations using imaging or interventional procedures are necessary in order to subsequently initiate treatment with medication, a pacemaker or catheter ablation.
