Musculoskeletal complaints

Musculoskeletal complaints are complaints that originate in the muscles and joints, i.e. the musculoskeletal system of the human body, and cause various intensities and qualities of pain, sometimes associated with radiation to areas of the body that are far removed from the actual source of the pain.

Symptoms

  • Localised and/or radiating pain of varying quality and intensity
  • Signs of inflammation (swelling, redness, warmth, pain, restriction of movement)

Causes

The causes are often long-term overloading of individual joints or entire body sections due to one-sided movements and/or strain and incorrect posture. However, musculoskeletal pain can also occur acutely following accidents and orthopaedic surgery.

Possible treatments

Many different options are available for the treatment of musculoskeletal complaints: Manual therapy, medical training therapy, electrotherapy and ultrasound, kinesio taping, massage, heat therapy and much more.

The focus of the therapy is always on achieving the individual goal, which is usually determined during the initial contact with the therapist. In order to guarantee the success of the therapy, an essential part of the treatment is the creation of a sensible exercise programme that can be carried out independently at home without great effort.
