Manual trigger point treatment / dry needling

Myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) are painful, clinically clearly identifiable, pathological changes in the skeletal musculature. Active trigger points can be responsible for pain in distant and seemingly uninvolved regions of the body.

Course of treatment

Based on the patient's medical history and findings (muscle stretching, resistance tests, palpation of hard tension cords, provocation of known pain), active MTrPs are identified and then treated manually. With this therapy, the muscle pathology can often be completely eliminated.
Sometimes a measure that supports manual trigger point treatment, "dry needling", is used, in which the trigger points are precisely pricked with thin, sterile acupuncture needles.
