Biliopancreatic diversion is the most radical method of all obesity operations.
It leads to a restriction in the amount of food eaten due to the gastric sleeve, but mainly works by restricting food intake, as the majority of the small intestine is also bypassed, i.e. short-circuited.
It is probably the most effective method (70-80% loss of excess weight) but also has the most side effects (deficiency symptoms, foul-smelling nappies, diarrhoea, etc.). As a rule, it is only carried out if the other operations fail.
